Community Expert Solutions innovates community engagement for clinical trial research and public health campaigns using expertise in qualitative research, social marketing, technology, and crowdsourcing. We aim to build our clients' capacity to serve their communities more effectively while promoting health equity.

Curated Clinical is an innovative online community dedicated to educating diverse populations about health topics and clinical trial participation, offering access to expert advice, easy-to-understand resources, and a network of supportive individuals and organizations. This platform uniquely combines credible information from researchers and physicians of color with curated educational materials, fostering a well-informed and connected community focused on improving health outcomes.

Community engagement

We consult with clients to design, plan and implement community engagement events and conferences to raise awareness about issues that address health disparities. We have successfully hosted national and regional academic conferences, concerts, community forums, vendor fairs, the official World AIDS Day and HIV Cure Research Days for Durham, NC.

IMPACT

  • Developed strategic policy initiatives for global HIV clinical trials and connection to care in United States, Asia and sub-Saharan Africa resulting in development of FDA Diversity Plan guidelines for clinical trial engagement and development of Good Participatory Practice Guidelines for HIV cure clinical trials

  • Developed, managed, and evaluated evidence-based clinical research engagement & marketing strategies for COVID19 Community Partnership Study resulting in increased minority enrollment by 64% and 333% increase in overall participant enrollment for Wake Forest Baptist Health system in 12 months

  • Developed North Carolina (NC) statewide COVID-19 vaccine engagement strategy to build trust of diverse populations with NIH-funded CEAL Initiative resulting in 17,000 Spanish speaking users reached, 10,000 COVID-19 masks distributed, development of COVID-19 Community Advisory Council and development of Spanish-language COVID-19 website for Wake Forest Baptist Health

  • Developed, implemented, and assessed the Triad Pastors Network, resulting in enrollment of 100 African American pastors and 150K congregation members, development of COVID-19 mobile application to address community needs and establishment of health network

  • Managed COVID-19 community health worker program resulting in 800+ community members to care in 6 months.

Capacity Building and Professional Development Workshops

We assist clients in facilitating collaboration and coordinating efforts between relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to: community-based organizations, medical treatment organizations and providers, insurance and pharmaceutical companies, policy-makers, clinical scientists, people living with and impacted by health disparities, local businesses.

IMPACT

  • Developed and facilitated synchronous and asynchronous DEI and leadership trainings to develop more than 85 Black and Latinx leaders of community-based organizations throughout the US South resulting in an additional $1M in collective funding

  • Directed national branding strategies, media relations, and strategic partnerships with national brand ambassadors resulting in a partnership with national celebrities, reaching more than 1M through national media outlets, and leveraging an additional $500K in collective funding for HIV organizations across the south

  • Developed evaluation strategy for national grant making program across four national institutions resulting in a multi-year dataset of collective impact on funding 300+ nonprofit organizations across the US South

Crowdsourcing contests

We consult with organizations to design and evaluate crowdsourcing contests. A crowdsourcing contest is a type of an intervention that uses community engagement and a bottom-up approach to solving problems.


We help clients identify, develop, and adapt measurement tools to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of crowdsourcing contests for health-related community engagement.

IMPACT

    • Previous contests we have facilitated have elicited 500+ community-based responses per contest to generate solutions focused on improving HIV and COVID-19 clinical research engagement. The contests also resulted in 1500 attendees at 25 events; 75 statewide community-based organizations and corporate sponsors, including Walgreens. Previous clients include UNC Chapel Hill, George Washington University and Johns Hopkins University.

Translational Research

We develop dynamic research dissemination tools, including infographic handouts and professionally edited video shorts to translate scientific findings into accessible material for public consumption.

Online content Production

We have an experienced videography and photography team who can assist clients with creating professional video and photo content for their online sites. We also provide in-house graphic design and web design services.

Program Evaluation

We use qualitative and quantitative research methods to evaluate programming, Diversity Equity & Inclusion Initiatives, grant making, and business development KPIs. We consult with institutions to design, implement and evaluate large scale projects, with an expertise in DEI efforts, nonprofit management, small business development and clinical trial recruitment efforts. We have expertise in qualitative methods, recruitment, qualitative data analysis, academic writing for peer-review publication, data visualization and reporting.

Meet the Founders

We are a team of HBCU graduates, Durham natives, and native southerners. We are from the communities most affected by health disparities and have a combined 40 years of experience in public health. We want to make a global impact.

As affiliates of SESH Global (China) and the Council for Entrepreneurial Development's (CED-NC) Venture Mentoring Service, Community Expert Solutions, LLC is a social entrepreneurship company that uses research, community engagement, social marketing, and crowdsourcing contests to increase public involvement in ending health disparities. The purpose of Community Expert Solutions, Inc. is to identify and develop crowdsourced ideas that promote socially responsible projects. We help researchers implement and evaluate crowdsourcing contests for health promotion campaigns and to improve HIV and COVID-19 clinical trial research engagement.

We also work to identify and develop crowdsourced ideas that promote health equity and generate community wealth.

We have expertise in building websites, web and mobile apps, designing social marketing campaigns, online educational modules, and designing technological solutions that promote community engagement for clinical trials and public health.
